Label Basics

Every label design is made up of warp and weft yarns. Each label can have up to 12 colours and can be produced using a variety of yarns as well as different weaving and finishing techniques.

We have many years of experience in developing labels; from initial concept development through to production and delivery.

Looms

Although there are many different weaving constructions to select from, satin and taffeta are the most commonly used for labels. See our detailed weave descriptions of some of the more popular constructions used today.

Weave

Trimtag labels are woven using the most modern equipment available. Most labels are woven on broadlooms where they are heat slit into ribbon form before cutting and folding.

Although less common today, we do produce woven edge needle loom labels and tape. These are much slower and more expensive to produce than the more modern air jet broadlooms. Needle loom labels have finished edges which are woven and not slit with a hot knife, resulting in a softer edge.
